Brief description of the organisation |
The Department of Earth Sciences comprises research on different Earth Sciences disciplines from geology and geophysics to hydrology (http://www.geo.uu.se), and is one of the largest Earth Sciences Departments in Scandinavia.
It has experience in subsurface hydrology, groundwater modelling, site characterization (e.g. nuclear waste investigations) multiphase flow, coupled processes, heterogeneity and up-scaling, probabilistic modelling, coupled processes investigation of deep disposal of liquid waste, including CO2. Thermo-hydro-mechanical coupling of CO2 storage as well as natural analogue studies.
Role in MUSTANG
The group in UU will be responsible of:
Project coordination;
Modelling and model development, in particular the multiphase-multicomponent, coupled processes aspects of the CO2 injection as well as development of a probabilistic approach for leakage modelling.
Development of improved seismic monitoring for improved time resolution.
