A multiple space and time scale approach for the quantification of deep saline formations for CO2 storage

WHAT DO WE DO?

MUSTANG’s main objective is to develop and disseminate a comprehensive set of methodologies and tools for the assessment and characterization of deep saline aquifers for CO2 storage, as well as to provide measures of performance and risk.

Moreover, MUSTANG aims at contributing to improve understanding of the process of CO2 spreading by means of theoretical research, laboratory experiments, natural analogue studies and field scale injection tests. Based on the results of this research, MUSTANG will develop models to analyze CO2 injection and storage, implementing them in six test sites representing different geological setting and geographical locations in Europe.
